ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
Elsbeth Schuetz, Orange, Calif.
Elsbeth Schuetz is no stranger to nail art. She has been doing nails for
about 25 years and her work has appeared on several magazine covers.
Her choice to do a fun and springy pop art cover was because of her
love for graffiti art, bold colors, and graphic elements. "It's edgy and has
Schuetz deeper meaning if you allow yourself to see it." Overall, the look conveys
Schuetz's optimism and what she feels is a carefree attitude about 2013.
Being bold and positive is only part of the process for getting pop art nails.
Schuetz recommends using fine-liners and looking to fashion magazines, purses,
and other accessories for inspiration. She even recommends using newspaper print
to make a possible collage or Photoshop to experiment with existing photos. Every
artist brings something to the table, and Schuetz is inspired by all of them, not just
the pop artists in particular. Schuetz believes nail art is like pop art in that it is about
expressing what you want people to know about you. "Nail art has become the
aphrodisiac to feel good and is the most versatile and affordable 'jewelry' ever." In
short, good art makes us feel good about ourselves. So take the time to do your nail
art and leave others happy and inspired in the process.
